Built Green Colorado is a voluntary, statewide program created in 1995 through the joint efforts of the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver, the Governor's Energy Office, Xcel Energy and E-Star Colorado.
Due to its focus on buyer benefit Built Green is the largest, most successful green building program in the nation.
It includes 220 builder members throughout Colorado who have registered more than 35,000 Built Green homes since the program's inception.
To achieve Built Green distinction, homes must be designed and construction based on a rigorous checklist of more than 180 features in 28 categories covering energy efficiency, materials, health and safety and resource conservation.
Built Green homes meet an energy efficiency performance of at least 15% above code. Beginning October 1, 2008, the minimum energy requirement will be ENERGY STAR®.
All the homes in the 2008 Parade of Homes at Solterra by Carma are Built Green.
